Your crew on Arcturus

Your skipper on board Arcturus is Bruce Dunlop, a native New Zealander with over 25 years sailing experience.

He has cruised extensively around the world, and spent many of these years living aboard and cruising his own yacht. Bruce is a master woodworker (with a passion for classic wooden boats) who was involved in all the refinements of the boat.

Bruce holds a RYA Offshore Certificate, necessary when he was working professionally on charter, and on private yachts in the South of France. Bruce also holds a NZ Commercial Master Certificate.

Bruce will be your host, ready to make your experience onboard a pleasure.

What we enjoy most is sharing our love of sailing Arcturus with you, our valued guests. A combination of experience and enthusiasm will assure you of an enjoyable and memorable voyage on board this classic Alden schooner.

When you step on board Arcturus, you can either sit back and relax, but we're sure you'll get more enjoyment from joining in and helping to sail her.

Described as obedient and well mannered, Arcturus cruises at 8 knots under full sail.

She is swift, yet comfortable and smooth which appeals to both the experienced sailor and the novice, truly pleasurable sailing. Arcturus is available for charter and we will be happy to design a cruise or program which best fits your needs.

We often race Arcturus, mainly in the Classic Yacht Association Series. We welcome any experienced sailors who would like to join or us, or beginners are equally as welcome. Don't worry, we'll "teach you the ropes"!
